Adaption

An adaption in connection with an electrical test is the physical interface between the unit under test (UUT) (e.g. end of a cable, connector plug) and the test point (pin) at the test system.

Adaptions often have electrical and mechanical components.

The simplest adaptions are adaption cables having the mating connector on both sides, at the UUT and at the test system.

During the cable test in the serial production of automotive wire harnesses, often testing tables (adaption tables) are used. The holders allow performing the electrical test in a realistic environment since the cable harnesses are positioned spatial in the same way like they will be finally mounted in the vehicle.

Adaption cables can include ID chips to be recognized automatically by the test system. This way they can be connected with the test system at will.
