Splice

A splice is a point in a network that is not directly connected with a test point of the test system.

Depending on the topology of the network it is often a combination of multiple wires to one single wire. The splice itself can't be integrated into the test as it can't be directly connected with the test system. Assigning a name to the splice in the editor simplifies the specification of the network structure in connection and network commands.

The compiler translates the connections that are defined in the splice either in a chain-like manner (e.g. 1 -> 2, 2 -> 3 and 3 -> 4) or in a star-shaped manner (e.g. 1 -> 2, 1 -> 3 and 1 -> 4) into real connections.
