HV-AC Test

HV-AC is the abbreviation for High Voltage Alternating Current.

The HV-AC test is a high voltage test validating the electric strength that means it verifies if the insulation of a cable or a component inside a unit under test (UUT) resists a certain voltage (qualitatively). In contrast, with the HV-DC test the insulation resistance between two measurement points can be determined (quantitatively).

High voltage test systems from WEETECH verify if an abrupt current flow increase or a temporary voltage drop occurs between switch-on and switch-off of appeared the generator. The test step will be stopped in both cases and rated as FAIL. In this case, an arc appeared at the UUT.

The maximum voltage value of the alternating current depends on the integrated generator and the used test point module.
